Twitter explodes as Renato Sanches flops on Premier League debut

Swansea City v Newcastle United - Premier League
Renato Sanches in action for new employers Swansea City

Renato Sanches attracted a lot of attention earlier this summer when he requested to leave Bayern Munich. The 20-year old arrived at Bavaria only a year ago, but failed to impress club authorities and fans, alike.

The midfielder was subsequently linked with moves to English Premier League giants Chelsea and Arsenal, but stunned the world when he moved to Swansea City on a loan deal, instead.

Making his debut last night, Sanches and Swansea suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss at the hands of Newcastle, and Twitter witnessed quite a hubbub over the Portuguese's contribution to the game.

It took no time for the Twitterati to launch scathing tirades aimed at Sanches. After performing worse than expected, the debutant was widely slammed on social media by dissatisfied fans.

People took to social media to express their discontentment, and even went as far as to claim that Sanches will not make it in England. Little too early, though, don't you think?

Many even went on to call it one of the worst debuts ever.

A number of fans, however, refused to rule the midfielder out and urged the rest to exhibit some patience, as they sympathised with the newcomer.

Despite facing intense criticism, Renato Sanches will know that this is just the beginning. He's talented enough to send Twitter into a happy frenzy on a weekly basis. The real question is, will he?
