Twitter goes wild as Virgil van Dijk joins Liverpool

The winter transfer window is almost here and clubs are looking to strengthen their squad in order to challenge for top honours.

The Reds wasted no time in securing their first winter signing after Virgil van Dijk was officially announced as a Liverpool player. He has now become the most expensive defender after both the clubs, Liverpool and Southampton, agreed on a deal of £75 million. The Netherlands international will join Liverpool on the 1st of January and will wear the No. 4 jersey.

Liverpool fans would definitely hope this is not true

The reported transfer fee is mad, but it definitely suggests that Klopp is being fully backed. Up to £66m spent on Keïta and now another £75m for van Dijk.

Really exciting times ahead. Let's just hope that these transfers aren't directly funded by a future Coutinho sale, though.
