Fans go berserk on Twitter as Arsenal demolish Newcastle 2-0 at Emirates Stadium
It was quite an entertaining Monday night as Arsenal hosted Newcastle United at Emirates Stadium. The Gunners were in search of three points which could settle their position among the top four teams in the Premier League points table this season.
Unai Emery maintained his culture as there were a few changes in the starting lineup. First of all, Emery opted to play with 3 defenders, Sead Kolasinac and Maitland-Niles started as the fullbacks with Aaron Ramsey, Matteo Guendouzi and Mesut Ozil in the midfield of the Gunners. Alexandre Lacazette was the lone striker, while Alex Iwobi was in the supporting position.
It was Aaron Ramsey who opened up the scoreline for the Gunners. The deadlock was broken in the 30th minute of the match as Ramsey's left-footed shot went past Martin Dubravka.
As a team, Arsenal were at the peak during the half time as the opponents took only a single shot on goal. It was The Gunners who were also controlling the game through the domination over the ball possession. Newcastle struggled all over the first half as the first 45 minutes ended with a 1-0 scoreline to Arsenal.
The second half started as the challenge was to keep up the momentum for Unai Emery's men. Both teams made a few tactical changes as the goalscorer Aaron Ramsey was substituted off due to some fitness issues. Mohamed Elneny replaced the Welsh superstar in the 67th minute of the match.
The addition of Elneny made Arsenal midfield defensively strong. On the other hand, Newcastle also brought a few attacking players on the field, but they couldn't have much spunk in their attacks.
As a result of Newcastle's hardcore defensive tactics, Arsenal forward, Lacazette was able to extend the lead at the 83rd minute of the match. This time, substituted Aubameyang's headed through ball was collected by Alexandre Lacazette who did his job by chipping the ball into the nets. Arsenal demolished Newcastle and the match ended with a 2-0 victory to the Gunners.
Twitter lovers have started to express their emotion as Arsenal claimed the 3rd spot in the Premier League points table with 63 points from 31 matches this season.
