Twitter implodes as Barcelona's unbeaten run in La Liga comes to an end
Barcelona's 36 game unbeaten streak came to an end in the league as they lost 5-4 against Levante, at the Ciutat de Valencia on Sunday night.
It was Levante that struck first, taking a shock lead through Emmanuel Boateng in the ninth minute, before the Ghanian doubled his tall at the half-hour mark to give Levante a 2-0 lead.
But it wasn't long before Phillipe Coutinho pegged one to open the scoring for Barcelona. The second half started in the worst possible way for the Catalonians as Enis Bardhi scored right after kickoff before Boateng again found the net three minutes later to complete his hattrick and make it 4-1 to the home side.
The goals kept coming as Enis Bardhi scored again to make it 5-1 and send the Barca faithful into disbelief.
But, two goals from Coutinho and a successfully converted spot kick by Luis Suarez in the span of 12 minutes cut the deficit to just one goal.
But Levante hung on for the final 20 minutes to claim an incredible and historical victory over FC Barcelona to end Barcelona's 43 game unbeaten run that stretched back to last season of April 2017.
