Twitter reacts as PSG beat Manchester United 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League
Manchester United finally tasted a defeat under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as they were beaten 2-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League Round of 16 first leg at the Old Trafford.
The game started in a superb fashion and both teams had their chances to score in the opening half of the game. However, the deadlock broke in the second half when Presnel Kimpembe slotted the ball into the back of the net from an Angel di Maria's corner kick in the 53rd minute.
The Parisiens doubled their margin in the 60th minute with a perfectly taken goal by their star man Kylian Mbappe. Manchester United tried to get back into the game after going back but PSG controlled the game brilliantly and didn't let the English club take anything away from the game.
PSG enjoyed 56% of possession during the game and had 12 shots on goal as compared to Manchester United's 10. To make things worse for United, Paul Pogba was sent off late in the game, meaning that he would be missing the 2nd leg in Paris.
The Red Devils started the 2018-19 season poorly, which subsequently led to the sacking of the former manager, Jose Mourinho. Former player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed as the caretaker manager for the rest of the season, and the Norwegian has done a brilliant job thus far.
The Manchester-based club is currently fourth in the Premier League table and are yet to lose a league game under Solskjaer. They will face Chelsea away in the FA Cup next, before hosting Liverpool at the Old Trafford for the Premier League fixture on February 24.
On the other hand, PSG are currently at the top of the Ligue 1 table, 10 points clear of their closest rivals, Lille. They have lost just one game in the league all season and conceded only 13 goals in 22 Ligue 1 games.
They will play AS Saint-Étienne at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard next before hosting Montpellier at Le Parc des Princes on February 21.
