Arsenal dropped points again in the Premier League following Saturday’s 1-0 loss to West Ham United. The Gunners went into the game needing a win to keep their top four hopes alive, but were surprised by the Hammers at the London Stadium, who won just their second game against the North Londoners in 24 outings.

A second half strike from youngster Declan Rice – assisted by former Arsenal star Samir Nasri – was enough to hand the home side all three points.

Unai Emery’s men have been on an inconsistent run in recent weeks and it appears things haven’t started quite well since the turn of the year. West Ham began the match as the better side, with their high pressing causing the Arsenal defence some problems.

However, the Gunners soon settled and started to create chances of their own. Emery named Alexandre Lacazette alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in his starting XI and the pair nearly combined to score the opener but for Lukas Fabianski’s smart save from the near post.

Lacazette threatened the West Ham goal a couple of times, but it was the Hammers who took the lead after the restart. A cross from Felipe Anderson was poorly cleared by Arsenal, falling straight to the feet of Nasri. The Frenchman controlled nicely before teeing up Rice to hit a sweet shot into the far corner.

Despite a late onslaught from the Gunners, it was little too late as West Ham defended their lead very well to walk home with all three points.

The result means Arsenal are still 5th on the Premier League table and Manchester United could draw level on points should the Red Devils manage to beat Tottenham on Sunday. Also, Chelsea could move six points clear of the Gunners should they defeat Newcastle United in Saturday’s late kick-off game.

Arsenal may have lost, but the world of social media has been buzzing with opinions, reactions and trolls in equal measure.

So, without much ado, let’s take a look at some of the best tweets following Arsenal’s 1-0 loss to West Ham.
