Twitter reacts to Arsenal's shaky 3-2 win against Southampton

Arsenal v Southampton - Premier League
An unlikely hero!

Arsenal just don't do it the easy way anymore, do they?

A brilliant night midweek saw them win 4-1 against CSKA Moscow in the first leg of the Europa League and Arsene Wenger decided to give some players a rest ahead of the return leg at Russia.

Arsenal conceded in the 17th minute when Shane Long left Shkodran Mustafi flat footed and reacted first to Cedric's cross as he poked the ball past Petr Cech. Arsenal looked for an immediate replacement and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continued his fine form as he equalised after a nice lay-off from Danny Welbeck.

Ten minutes later, Welbeck scored to make it 2-1 as his long range effort took a slight deflection off Maya Yoshida and went past a helpless McCarthy.

Southampton upped their gear in the second half and showed more fighting spirit. Arsenal did not take the chances that came their way and ultimately paid the price when Charlie Austin equalised 3 minutes after coming one with a perfect tap-in.

However, Arsenal found an unlikely hero in Welbeck, who headed a cross from Iwobi into the back of the net to get the winner in the 81st minute.

Things turned ugly in injury time as both Elneny and Jack Stephens were sent off following a scuffle between the players. Stephens and Wilshere came up against each other and Elneny appeared to shove Cedric in the face.

Arsenal held on to win and as usual, Twitter had its say:

THE GOALS FIRST

ARSENAL WERE CRITICISED!

A LITTLE PRAISE CAME THEIR WAY, THOUGH!
