Twitter trolls Kerala Blasters as Gokulam Kerala script victory in Kolkata

Football in India is growing. There was a time when cricket was everything for the fans all over India, but it had an exceptional case in Kerala, and in West Bengal, where football went neck-to-neck against cricket.

Talking about Kerala, the state has a team each in both I-League and ISL in the form of Gokulam Kerala FC and Kerala Blasters respectively. With the former scripting a win against the mighty Mohun Bagan in their I-League game today, the team have written a record.

Despite playing four seasons in the ISL, Kerala Blasters are unable to register a victory in Kolkata, whilst new entrants into the I-League Gokulam Kerala have made it, as they defeated Mohun Bagan, courtesy to a last-gasp Henry Kisekka stunner.

However, the Twitterati trolled Kerala Blasters as Gokulam did what the failed to do in past four years. They also applauded Gokulam Kerala for a massive victory against Mohun Bagan. Here are some responses.

A proud moment in India’s football history was when bare-footed Mohun Bagan defeated colonial masters’ Yorkshire regiment to win IFA shield, back in 1911. Remembered this when the same team was defeated by Gokulam FC today. That too in Kolkata!

At this point in the season we've admit, Gokulam are playing for pride.
But it is victories like these that will remind their owners that while they've done something right for Kerala football, by forming a team, it is important to continue the project, perhaps in a better way
