UEFA Europa League | Arsenal vs Standard Liege- Player RatingsĀ
Arsenal comfortably dispatched Standard Liege 4-0 in the UEFA Europa League thanks to a brace from Gabriel Martinelli and goals from Joe Willock and Dani Ceballos. The result keeps Emery's side top of their group and could serve as a catalyst to boost their confidence for matches to come. Here's how Unai Emery's men fared on the night.
GK- Emiliano Martinez- 6.5
Martinez was barely troubled in goal and dealt with any sort of threat with assurance. The Argentine is far more dominant in the air than Bernd Leno and ironically has more clean sheets this season than his German counterpart who is also the number one goalkeeper for the Gunners.
RB- Hector Bellerin- 7.5
Bellerin captained the side for the first time as the Spaniard continues his recovery from injury. Bellerin was as reliable as ever and got forward well, combining with Ainsley Maitland-Niles on many occasions. There is no doubt that once he starts in the Premier League again, Arsenal will be benefitted greatly. Bellerin is a better passer than Maitland-Niles and has better positional awareness. The injury does not seem to have affected his speed either which is a good sign. With the additional duties of captaincy, Bellerin is entering a period of his career where he can step up and lead others.
CB- Shkodran Mustafi- 7
Mustafi might be frozen out of the Premier League team but was solid against Standard Liege as he looks to force his way back into the manager's plans. The German was solid with his passing and looked assured whenever he had a threat to deal with. While the UEFA Europa League is far from the Premier League, Mustafi did his prospects no harm. As both Sokratis and David Luiz have been error prone, Mustafi could play in the Premier League if he maintains this consistency and avoids making mistakes.
