UFC's Conor McGregor reveals Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a Real Madrid contract extension

Conor McGregor with Cristiano Ronaldo in the United States

UFC Featherweight Champions, Conor McGregor, has revealed at a recent press conference that Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a contract extension with Spanish giants, Real Madrid. At an event conducted recently, the 28-year-old let slip the news Real Madrid fans have been waiting to hear for a while now.

The two of them are said to be close friends and even met each other Stateside where Ronaldo was holidaying and McGregor was training for his rematch against Nate Diaz at UFC 202.

Ronaldo has been eyeing a contract extension with Real Madrid for a while now but the Irishman said it was all done when asked about if he could usurp the Portuguese legend in the Forbes list of top-earning sports stars.

"That'll be tough, he's just signed a new contract with Real Madrid but we'll see, maybe next year I'll have him," said McGregor.

Cristiano has been a subject of interest to two of Europe's bigger clubs in Paris Saint-Germain and his former club, Manchester United. Jose Mourinho – who's just taken over the Manchester club – was thought to have wanted to bring back the Portuguese forward to Old Trafford but gave up when the player himself rejected the chance and decided that his immediate future was at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Paris Saint-Germain, meanwhile, were rumoured to have even gone as far as had discussions with the club regarding the club. They wanted Ronaldo to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic – who joined Manchester United on a free signing a one-year contract with the option for another.

Ronaldo became Real Madrid's all-time record goalscorer last season and has won two UEFA Champions League titles in three years with the club. Under Zinedine Zidane, he showed glimpses of what made him the kind of goal-scoring monster he is and is keen to keep it going for as long as he can.
