Uruguay vs Bolivia Head-to-Head stats and numbers you need to know before Match 14 of the 2024 Copa America

Uruguay will look to book their spot in the knockout stage when they meet Bolivia at MetLife Stadium in their second group-stage match of the 2024 Copa America on Thursday. Uruguay last won the competition in 2011 and have not made it past the quarterfinals since then.

La Celeste had the best-attacking performance in the first round of the group stage games in this year's Copa America, scoring three goals in their win over Panama. Matías Viña had a goal and an assist in the 3-1 win while Darwin Núñez also opened his goalscoring account for the competition. Luis Suárez was an unused substitute.

La Verde suffered a 2-0 loss to hosts USA in their campaign opener, suffering their fourth consecutive loss in all competitions. The 1963 champions have been eliminated from the group stage in the last three editions of the competition.

This is a must-win match for them but they have not been able to register a win in the previous three editions of the competition, scoring just six goals, and face an uphill task in this match.

Uruguay vs Bolivia: Numbers you need to know before their 2024 Copa America encounter

The 2011 champions have suffered just one loss in their last five games in the Copa America, with that loss coming on penalties to Colombia in the quarterfinals in 2021. They have kept three clean sheets in that period.

They have won five of their last six meetings against Bolivia, scoring 15 goals, and are strong favorites. The two teams met in the group stage of the 2021 edition as well, with the match ending in a 2-0 win for La Celeste.

La Verde have suffered 13 consecutive defeats in the Copa America, conceding at least two goals in all but one game in that period. They are winless in Copa America meetings against Uruguay in the 21st century.

Marcelo Bielsa might opt to experiment with his starting XI in this match and is likely to include Nicolás de la Cruz in the team after he picked up an assist in the campaign opener. José María Giménez is also likely to get the nod to start.

La Celeste are the favorites on paper and enjoyed a solid start to their campaign but should not underestimate Bolivia as this is a do-or-die match for them.
