Valencia 2-4 Arsenal: Here's how Twitter reacted to Gunners' victory
Arsenal booked their place in the UEFA Europa League final as they beat Valencia CF 4-2 (7-3 on aggregate) in the second leg of the semi-finals tie at the Mestalla Stadium. The Gunners will face their city-rivals, Chelsea in the final of the competition at the Baku Olympic Stadium on May 29.
Things started poorly for the Gunners as Kevin Gameiro gave Valencia CF the lead as early as the 11th minute of the game. However, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's strike in the 17th minute leveled the scoreline before Alexandre Lacazette put the Londoners in front just five minutes after the half-time break.
Kevin Gameiro sparked the possibility of yet another European comeback through his second strike of the match in the 58th minute but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's goals in the 69th and 88th minute respectively put the game beyond the reach of the Spanish club, securing Arsenal's place in an European final for the first time since 2006.
Valencia enjoyed 56 percent of possession during the game and had 18 shots on goal as compared to Arsenal's nine.
Arsenal are currently fifth in the Premier League table, three points behind fourth-placed, Tottenham Hotspur. They will now play Burnley at the Turf Moor for the final game of the Premier League season on May 12.
Unai Emery already won three UEFA Europa League trophies during his time with Sevilla and now he will be looking forward to winning it for the first time with the Londoners.
Valencia CF, on the other hand, are fifth in the La Liga table, 28 points behind leaders, Barcelona. They will host Deportivo Alaves next in the league before squaring up against Real Valladolid at the Estadio José Zorrilla for the final game of the season on May 18.
