QPR’s Charlie Austin celebrates his wonder goal against Southampton

Southampton beat Queens Park Rangers 2-1 at St Mary's Stadium on Saturday to win their sixth game in a row in all competitions.

But the game will be known more for two absolutely wonderful goals from QPR’s Charlie Austin and Saints’ Graziano Pelle.

Ryan Bertrand had earlier scored to make it 1-0 to the Saints in the 54th minute.

Charlie Austin goal

Austin scored the equalizer with a goal that showed total control and presence of mind. An Eduardo Vargas cross came in behind him which he first trapped with his right foot. Then, even before it touched the ground, he turned on the spot and scored with a left footed volley past the goalkeeper.

Graziano Pelle goal

Not to be outdone, Pelle scored two minutes later with a scissor-kick to win the game for the Saints. A high cross was headed down by Dusan Tadic to Pelle’s feet. The Italian striker then scooped it up with his right foot and scored with an overhead scissor kick over the outstretched arm of the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner.
