Video: Adidas plays fake kit prank on Ajax Amsterdam

More than three months might have passed since April Fool’s day, but Adidas decided to have a fool’s day of their own. The German sports accessory manufacturing giants decided to have a little fun with the Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam in one of the best pranks probably ever played by any sports manufacturer.

Clubs take huge pride in their kits, especially the home one. The colours on the shirt are not only dyed on to the shirt but also woven deep into the mortal fabric of its’ fans.

Ajax Amsterdam is one of the most prestigious clubs in World Football and are instantly recognized by their red and white jersey. The Eredevisie champions, thus hold the colours of the club in high esteem.

Hence, it was no surprise that their manager Frank de Boer and players were taken aback when Adidas produced a series of obnoxious jersey designs to the players and the manager alike. The reaction from the Ajax player and de Boer in particular is pure gold.

However, everyone was smiles at the end of the day as the original jersey was finally presented to the players and manager.
