Video: Daniele de Rossi throws tantrum after getting substituted
Daniele de Rossi pulled off a huge tantrum after being substituted in Roma’s 1-1 draw with Hellas Verona. The Roma vice-captain, who has made 488 appearances for the Serie A side, was replaced by Seydou Keita in the 66th minute of the match which saw two second-half goals from either side after a goalless first half.
Roma were 1-0 down in the 61st minute after Jankovic’s volley, although Florenzi’s spectacular strike allowed his side to get back into the game just five minutes later. In order to freshen things up and hopefully get a victory, manager Rudi Garcia made two substitutions to as Mohamed Salah and De Rossi were taken off for Iago Falque and Keita respectively.
The 32-year-old De Rossi didn’t take too kindly to the decision made by his manager and ended up taking out his frustration on a water bottle after having a seat on the team’s bench. The midfielder threw the bottle to the ground after taking a sip, before punching his fist in the air in anger and proceeding to take his teammate’s water bottle. He later proceeded to push a coach out of the way when was asked to calm down by a member of the team's staff, and asked him to leave him alone.
Since making his debut for the Giallorossi in 2001, Daniele de Rossi has established himself as a club legend. The Italian international has turned down numerous offers throughout his career due to his deep passion for the club, which makes his reaction to the substitution more understandable as he is an integral part of the team.
He will be looking to help Roma win the Serie A this year, after seeing his side fall 17 points short of eventual champions Juventus in the 2014/15 season.
