Video: Birmingham City fans abuse Blyth Spartans goalkeeper, concedes 3 goals in 6 minutes

Blyth Spartans Goalkeeper Peter Jeffries will not want to remember this FA Cup game against Birmingham City for more reasons than one. The non-league side 120 places below Birmingham in the English football pyramid almost pulled off a major upset when they took a 2-0 lead when Robbie Dale scored twice in six minutes.

But Birmingham City staged a comeback at Croft Park when Lee Novak scored followed by a Wes Thomas brace, all in six minutes, which gave them a 3-2 win. And Jeffries conceded all three goals in the second half right in front of the travelling Birmingham supporters.

With the fans barely 10 feet behind the goal, Jeffries was abused throughout the second half and he even reacted when chants were directed at him. Even some of the match stewards and policemen could do nothing to silence the fans.

But all was forgiven after the final whistle when the goalkeeper and the fans applauded each other in the true spirit of sportsmanship.
