Video: Mohamed Salah scores delightful goal against Tottenham Hotspur in Europa League
One of the moments of the second leg of the Round of 32 Europa League clash between Fiorentina and Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday came in the 70th minute of the game when Mohamed Salah scored a lovely goal that all but sealed the win for the Italian club. The 22-year-old Egyptian came charging in from the side before passing the ball to Mario Gomez for a split second, and then took it back to complete a wonderful one-two goal.
The strike ended all hopes of a potential comeback by Spurs and Florentina progressed through to the Round of 16 with 2-0 win on the night and a 3-1 aggregate.
Salah was part of current Premier Lague leaders Chelsea last year but scored just twice in the 13 games that he played. He was acquired by the Serie A side on loan until the end of the present season as part of a deal that saw Juan Cuadrado move to the Blues.
His manager at the club, Vincenzo Montella was all praise for the winger's performance.
"Salah is a player that, even if he takes some breaks, is devastating over 40 or 50 yards,” he said.
