Video: Corinthians beat Bahia 2-0 in Brazilian league
A double from striker Alexandre Pato helped Corinthians seal a 2-0 win over Bahia away from home in the Brazilian League.
The win lifts Corinthians to seventh.
Bahia played host to Corinthians at the Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova in Brazil.
The home side came into the match the marginal favourites given their superior league position.
Bahia were eighth after five games, while Corinthians were struggling in 15th.
With the match just 30 minutes old the visitors stunned the home crowd by grabbing the opening goal.
Former AC Milan striker, Alexandre Pato, showed sublime skill to control a long cross before slamming the ball home past the static form of Marcelo Lomba.
Ten minutes later he grabbed his second, with an opportunistic strike after a poor clearance from the Bahia defence fell straight to his feet from all eight yards.
In the second half Corinthians continued to dominate and went on the hunt for a third.
It never came – but the 2-0 scoreline was more than enough for Tite’s man to secure a morale-boosting win.
The result lifts them to seventh in the table – and drops Bahia to 11th.
