Video: Fabregas slams referee for not awarding penalty saying, "I don't know if he will sleep well tonight"
During his post-match interview, Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas slammed referee Anthony Taylor who had booked the Spaniard for an alleged dive inside the penalty area after a challenge by Matt Targett of Southampton during their 1-1 draw against the Saints at the St Mary's Stadium.
On top of that, Fabregas was issued a yellow card for simulation, explaining his frustration following the match.
“I don’t think the referee had the best game of his life,” he told the Sky Sports correspondent. “I don’t know if he will be able to sleep well tonight or not, he had a really bad game.”
“But, we’re all human, I’m sure this will happen as it happens to everyone. We have a bad day at the office and that’s it. We have to talk about football and the football we played today was good.”
Fabregas was however very impressed with the team’s effort, especially in the second half where he had helped Eden Hazard to score an equaliser, bagging his 13th assist of the season.
“I don’t care about assists or goals, I just want Chelsea to win and today we didn’t do it so I’m going home upset,” he explained.
Boss Jose Mourinho was critical of the referee as well, claiming that a "campaign" is being waged against his team.
