Electronic Arts released the official gameplay trailer for FIFA 17 at Gamescom 2016 and it was an absolute delight. They even got Marco Reus to play a match of the new game in front of a live audience. EA has already promised that this edition of FIFA is going to be its best yet and if the trailer is anything to go by, they are sticking to their word.
The new Frostbite engine is expected to have a huge impact on the quality of the game and it shows in the trailer too. The game is set to feature true-to-life-action, an improved career mode and brand new attacking features.
The very first thing that strikes you once the video starts is the graphics. September 29 can’t come quickly enough for those who have seen the trailer and the promises it makes. Players look more life-like than before – special attention has been given to their celebrations. Throughout the clip, there are shots of players and their signature celebrations.
Paul Pogba may not have appeared for Manchester United yet but he is already in a no. 6 shirt for the Red Devils doing the dab. West Ham’s Michael Antonio can be seen doing his funny little chicken dance. Gomis shouldn’t be missed in his odd panther-like celebration. Mesut Ozil is in it too with his own celebratory dance.
The video has plenty of other details that is sure to send the hearts of EA’s FIFA fans aflutter. Zlatan Ibrahimovic can be seen with his game face on in a team huddle and scores a goal with a bicycle kick.
EA remembered to make a note of all the major transfers of the current window and included them in the video - Michy Bathsyuayi and N'Golo Kante can be seen emerging from a tunnel in Chelsea kits. Renato Sanches is glimpsed in a Bayern Munich shirt and Gonzalo Higuain and Miralem Pjanic are in Juventus strips.
The trailer features managers who look good enough to be real. Mourinho can be seen throwing his hands up in the air in frustration and Arsene Wenger in his signature winter coat looking like he always does – angry and hopeless.
The attention to detail is amazing and there’s a nod to the Hammers with a bird’s eye view of their new home, the Olympic Stadium. EA would be remiss if the trailer didn’t feature their former cover star Lionel Messi and he’s there too in his new blonde hairstyle. They were even mindful enough to include Wycombe’s own beast Adebayor Akinfenwa.
The gameplay is a 1:55-minute visual treat for all football and FIFA fans and is bound to drive up EA’s pre-orders for the game.
