Video: Franck Ribery hit in the face and provoked by pitch invader in German Cup
Bayern Munich’s 3-1 win away at Hamburg in the German Cup ended on a sour note when a fan invaded the pitch and hit Franck Ribery with a scarf.
The man ran the full width of the field he reached Ribery near the touchline. He then hit him with the scarf and proceeded to provoke him with obscene gestures.
But security officials at the ground soon stepped in and caught him, but not before a few of Ribery’s Bayern teammates had a word with him.
The Frenchman had earlier scored the third goal in the match and he was booed by the home fans whenever he got the ball.
But he wasn’t too bothered after the match and said on television: “'Fortunately, nothing much happened.”
“It was a difficult situation, I didn't see him coming.”
