Video: Gary Neville on why Suarez will not be EPL’s Top Goalscorer

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville were rivals on the pitch and are now teammates on the television but did disagree on who would be the Premier League’s top scorer this season.

Neville, the former Manchester United player, said that he thinks Sergio Aguero would win the Golden Boot, while Carragher – former Liverpool player – thinks Luis Suarez will.

Neville said: “I think it will be Aguero.” Carragher interrupted saying, ‘no, no’

Neville continued: “Because City are the strongest team at the moment and will win the league, he’ll get more chances than Suarez.

“Suarez, at the moment, is absolutely sensational – absolutely brilliant. I just think Aguero over the season.

“I just think with City, because they’ll create more chances, they’ll win more points and it will mean that Aguero will overtake him at some point.”

Carragher responded, in defence of his former teammate: “If you look at it, Suarez is top scorer now and how many games has he missed since the start of the season? I think he’s played five or six less games.

“The only worry with Luis is if he does something stupid, bites someone again and he misses 10 games.

“If he behaves himself he will be top scorer.”

Suarez is currently on 14 goals from just 10 matches while Aguero has scored 12 goals in 14 games. Liverpool’s forward missed the opening five matches of the Premier League season through suspension after biting Branislav Ivanovic on the arm during last season.
