Video: Iker Casillas shines in Porto's 1-0 win over Benfica with two great saves
Iker Casillas proved to be quite crucial on Sunday as Porto beat their fierce rivals Benfica in a tense 1-0 Primeira Liga match following a late winner from André. Had it been not for the Spaniard who was playing in his first ever Classico, Porto would have conceded twice.
His first save came after he had denied a header from Benfica’s Konstantinos Mitroglou, and made an equally impressive save when he denied Luisao’s header from a corner.
Casillas joined Porto this summer window after facing heavy criticism for his performances from the supporters for the last three years or so. The World cup winning shot-stopper who spent 25 years at the Santiago Bernabeu made 725 appearances for them overall.
He won 5 La Liga titles, 2 Copa Del Reys, 3 Champions League, 4 Supercopa De Espana, 1 Uefa Super Cup,1 FIFA World Cup and the 1 Intercontinental Cup in the famous White jersey.
So far, the Spain international has started all of Porto’s five games since joining them.
Perhaps Real Madrid should think about buying him.. wait. No bother.
