Video: Jordan and Uzbekistan level after first leg of Asian World Cup qualifying playoff

At the King Abdullah Stadium in Amman, Jordan hosted Uzbekistan in the first leg of the Asian World Cup qualifying playoff.

Despite a nervy start, it was the hosts that opened the scoring after half an hour.

Mus’ab Al Laham finished neatly after some tidy build-up play ; much to the delight of the home crowd.

Neither side has ever qualified for the World Cup and Uzbekistan went into the game as slight favourites having only missed out on automatic qualification due to goal difference.

And it took just five minutes for the visitors to get back on level terns.

Server Djeprov’s shot found the back of the net after some dreadful goalkeeping by Amer Shafi.

It finished 1-1 and the sides will meet again in Tashkent in four days time for the second leg.

The winner of the playoff will then face the fifth placed side in South America for a spot in Brazil.
