Video: Records don't matter but titles do, says Mourinho on breaking new record

Jose Mourinho insists records don’t really matter.

With their convincing 3-0 win over Tottenham, Chelsea had equalled their club record of being unbeaten in over 23 matches, and Jose Mourinho’s men will set a new record if they are to win against Newcastle this Thursday. However, unlike most other managers, Mourinho insists that these records don’t really mean anything if they fail to bag the Premier League this season.

"They don't know the record and if you don't tell me 20 times I wouldn't know. I don't care about records," Mourinho said.

"The record I want is to win the Premier League three times at this club, that's all I want. I'm not looking for records, I'm looking for points, victories and points, and if possible at the end of the season, titles.”

"The only thing that matters for me in the Premier League is that I've won the title twice," he added.

Taking old encounters into factors, Mourinho has never led Chelsea to a win at St. James’ Park, having drawn and lost twice there.
