Manchester United legend Dimitar Berbatov joined the Kerala Blasters for the upcoming ISL season. Star striker Berbatov is expected to give the Kerala Blasters some much-needed firepower up front in ISL 2017.

He is a vastly different player, whom the club will be looking up to, in order to lead their attack. The Bulgarian is blessed with sublime skills and that necessary touch of arrogance that all the best players have. Dimitar Berbatov promises to provide everything one can wish for, from a big-name foreign signing.

He netted 91 goals in 200 matches for Bayern Leverkusen and 120 goals in his Premier League stint with Tottenham, Manchester United and Fulham. He reunites with Rene Meulensteen, who managed him at Fulham. Another big name on the Kerala Blasters roster is that of Berbatov's former Manchester United teammate Wes Brown.

With Kerala being a football-mad state, one could only imagine the welcome reception the Bulgarian received when he touched down at Kochi. The passionate Kerala Blasters supporters even composed a chant dedicated to their biggest signing this year, Dimitar Berbatov.

The Sachin Tendulkar co-owned team has been consistent throughout the previous three seasons, finishing as runners-up in both 2014 and 2016, respectively. The experience of Dimitar Berbatov will be more than useful for the Yellow Brigade in the upcoming season, especially as he will be have star ISL forwards like Iain Hume and CK Vineeth in support.

The Indian Super League will commence on the 17th of November and Kerala will kick things off against rivals Atletico de Kolkata, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, in Kochi.
