Video: Kerala Blasters FC fans compose 'Dimitar Berbatov Chant' ahead of ISL 2017
With the Indian Super League around the corner, the fever is catching up. The passionate supporters of Kerala Blasters FC have composed a chant which mainly emphasises on their biggest signing this year, former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov.
Uploaded by the fans on Instagram, they named it the ‘Berbatov Chant’ and requested every follower of the team to listen it and share it with their friends to spread it along throughout the southern state. The chants of the 50,000-strong crowd present at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium will make the atmosphere even more electrifying.
A seven-time of the” Bulgarian Player of the Year” awardee, Berbatov gained global fame during his stint with German club Bayer Leverkusen. Then he moved to London and played for Tottenham Hotspur. However, his biggest achievements were his Premier League wins with Manchester United in 2008-09 and 2010-11 seasons, respectively.
The Sachin Tendulkar-owned team has been a consistent team throughout the previous three seasons, finishing as runners-up in 2014 and 2016 respectively. The experience of Dimitar Berbatov will be more than useful for the Yellow Brigade in the upcoming season. Canadian footballer Iain Hume will also boost the attacking line. For the record, Hume was awarded the “Hero of the League” in 2014, when he was playing for the Kerala-based team, before spending the next two years in Kolkata.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium has been extraordinary during the previous seasons, regularly drawing strong home support. Known for its football-loving people, it will be interesting to see how the team performs and whether it keeps up to the expectations in the biggest ISL season ever.
