Video: Neymar expresses disappointment after being taken off by Luis Enrique
Giving away a 0-2 lead against a tough side like Sevilla can be frustrating for players, especially if they are taken off by their manager despite being one of the better players on the pitch. As was the case for Barcelona’s Brazilian forward Neymar who was quick to express his discontent with manager Luis Enrique’s decision to take him off.
The Catalan side threw away a two-goal lead with goals from Lionel Messi and Neymar in the first half after substitute Kevin Gameiro scored a late equaliser, earning Sevilla a draw. (Watch the goals here.)
It was the 72nd minute of the match when Enrique had decided upon taking off the Brazilian captain to bring on Xavi, irking Neymar who was clearly not happy with the manager’s decision.
When asked about Neymar’s gesture following the match, Enrique said, “I am not interested in talking about this kind of nonsense. It is becoming fashionable to do this and it's nonsense. I am interested in the team winning and this sort of thing is simply uninteresting.”
"I did the swap to seek more control on the game in midfield, I thought it was necessary," he added.
Barcelona, with this draw, are now just two points ahead of rivals Real Madrid who continued their good run with a 3-0 win at home against Eibar.
