Video: Neymar's free kick fails to cross the goal-line against Sevilla
Barcelona are a different team without the likes of Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta who are both out of the squad with injuries. And this was evident in their La Liga match on Saturday against Sevilla where they suffered their second loss of the season as the match ended 2-1 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.
The biggest talking point of the first of the match was the visitor’s ‘what if’ moment when Neymar’s free kick in the 20th minute somehow failed to cross the goal-line. The Barcelona forward took up the dead ball responsibility for the Blaugrana side when he curled the ball onto the post which bounced back and hit Sevilla goalkeeper Sergio Rico on the back.
However, his effort came to no avail as the ball ran along the length of the goal-line and the defender cleared it out of the danger zone. Defender Gerard Pique was approaching the ball on the far post which could have been bundled over the line, but luckily for Sevilla, Coke had managed to get to it first before Pique and cleared the danger.
It has been an unfortunate start of the season for the Catalan side who have a long list of injured players at the early stages of the campaign. However, they still sit in third palce with 15 points despite their loss against Sevilla. But either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid could jump above them in the table after the Madrid derby on Sunday.
