Video: Neymar looking forward to Confederations Cup final
Players from Brazil and Uruguay gave their verdicts on Wednesday (26th June) following the hosts 2-1 win in the semi-final of the FIFA Confederations Cup.
Neymar, Brazilian striker:
“Spain and Italy are both great teams. Both of them have good qualities and I wish them good luck. I will be at home watching both teams looking forward for our next opponent.”
Diego Cavani, Uruguayan striker:
“As has been said, we have a sour taste in our mouth because we played a great game. We played with conviction and at a good level. And that’s why we left the pitch satisfied after facing a big squad like Brazil, full of great players. But we have shown that we also have great players and that we’re ready for everything.”
Fred, Brazilian striker:
“We were expecting a match like this and the quality and high standard of the Uruguayan selection. They have gained this experience in the last few years and this put them in semi-finals and from my point of view they gave us a great match.”
Oscar Tavarez, Uruguay head coach:
“We had chances, the moment Cavani absolutely disoriented Julio Cesar. There are these things that happens in soccer, like the Woodie Allen film Match Point. It’s one story if the ball falls in one place and other different if it’s fall somewhere else. And unfortunately that ball went out for very little.”
