Roma midfielder Florenzi kisses his grandmother after scoring a goal
And the best grandson of the year award goes to..
Roma’s Alessandro Florenzi who celebrated his first goal of the season against Cagliari by kissing his grandmother after running all the way into the stands.
According to reports, it was Florenzi’s 82-year-old grandmothers’ first visit to Stadio Olimpico, and her condition for the visit was that her grandson would have to come over to her, and say hello.
This goal was Roma’s second and final goal as they comfortably registered yet another victory as they go on top of the Serie A standings. Earlier, Florenzi had set up the goal for Mattia Destro's 10th-minute opener in the match.
However, despite the heartwarming gesture, he was served a yellow card by the referee and will be paying a fine for it.
Following the match, when enquired about the incident, Roma manager Rudi Garcia said, “His celebration was an emotional one. He’ll pay a fine for the booking, but I think he’ll believe it was well worth it.”
