Video: Bayern duo Thomas Muller and Philipp Lahm take on Chinese table tennis champions
That Thomas Muller and Philipp Lahm are exceptional footballers is no secret, often creating magic with the ball at their feet. What you might not have known though is that the Bayern Munich pair are more than decent when it comes to Table Tennis as well.
The German champions were given a euphoric welcome when they touched down in Beijing two days ago and paid back the fans with an impressive 4-1 win against Valencia at the National stadium on Saturday. The result would have brought much joy to the supporters no doubt, but it was Muller and Lahm who stole the show. After starring for the Bavarians on the pitch, the pair continued their partnership off it as well, delighting their Chinese fans with an entertaining game of their favourite sport – Ping Pong.
Muller and Lahm’s opponents were some of the best, one could have imagined – Reigning Women’s World Champion Ding Ning, former Men’s World Champion Wang Hao and 1996 Olympic gold medalist Liu Guoliang. But the duo, who themselves are World Cup winners, showed that they can put up a more than decent fight in Table Tennis as well against the masters of the game.
It was all for fun though and there was no shortage of banter with even the normally subdued Lahm joining in with the ever cheeky Muller.
