Video: Two FA Cup final tickets sent to space and brought down to earth for lucky fan to find
Winning the last two tickets for the FA Cup final between Arsenal and Aston Villa is literally an ‘out of this world’ experience and one lucky fan will be in the VIP section this Saturday. The Football Association successfully launched a balloon with two tickets from Wembley that was sent into space and then burst when it reached an altitude of 29 km. The balloon braved 100mph winds and survived temperatures going as low as -50C!
The Football Association then told their Twitter followers where the tickets had landed and asked them to go and find it when it landed three hours later in Kent at Broad Oak, near Hastings. They even gave followers the co-ordinates and a map.
And 19-year-old Arsenal fan George Lamb can thank his grandmother for finding them when she took her dog out for a morning walk. To top it off, he was celebrating his birthday and his grandmother made sure his wish to watch Arsenal at Wembley came true.
Lamb said: “When I woke up this morning the idea of going to the FA Cup Final hadn’t crossed my mind. Now, thanks to my grandma finding the tickets, I’m going on the ultimate adventure to Wembley on Saturday, although I’m sure the tickets’ adventure to space is certainly a close second!
“This will be my first time to Wembley and I’ve got butterflies at the prospect of it.”
