Video: Usain Bolt sends message to Zlatan Ibrahimovic
The fastest man on earth, Usain Bolt sent a message to Zlatan Ibrahimovic welcoming him to Old Trafford. The Swede signed for Manchester United this summer from Paris-Saint Germain after his contract expired at the Parc des Princes.
The six-time Olympic gold medalist revealed exactly what he wants from Zlatan to do for the Red Devils. In the 14-second video, Bolt said: “Hey Zlatan, it's Usain Bolt, I just wanted to say welcome to the greatest team you've ever been in, Manchester United. “
“Looking forward to goals. I’ll be watching you.”
Getting goals have been a major issue for Manchester United in recent times. They scored only 49 goals in the Premier League last season under Louis Van Gaal. With Wayne Rooney not as deadly in front of the goal as he once was and without another star striker, Zlatan’s signature did not come as a surprise to the United fans.
They will hope that the Swede goes back to his goal-scoring best for the Red Devils as they fight to be champions in the increasingly tough Premier League.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic spent four seasons in Paris and scored an impressive 156 goals in 180 matches. He won 12 titles for the Parisian outfit, including four successive Ligue 1 crowns, but his long time wish of a Champions League medal eluded him.
The Swede trained for the first time with Manchester United team earlier on Thursday. He has been given the number 9 shirt which previously belonged to Anthony Martial while the French forward has been handed Adnan Januzaj’s number 11.
Ibrahimovic is expected to make his Manchester United debut against Galatasaray in Gothenburg on 30th July after having missed United’s trip to China.
Zlatan reunites with his former manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford after their time at Inter Milan which he has described as entirely satisfying. The Swede will hope that he finally wins a Champions League medal with the Red Devils and restore them to the status where they once belonged during the time of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Meanwhile, Usain Bolt has time and again expressed his desire to play for Manchester United in the past. However, the Jamaican will have other things to think about at Rio Olympics 2016. Bolt claimed the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay gold medals at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and the London Olympics in 2012 and will be looking to add at least a couple more to his tally at Rio.
