Villas-Boas jokes about David Moyes' situation

Andre Villas-Boas

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has joked that Manchester United boss David Moyes has faced nothing in comparison to what he face at his time at Chelsea.

Moyes has come under heavy criticism following Manchester United’s poor start to the campaign. The defending champions are currently eight points behind early leaders Arsenal and have already faced Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City in their opening nine Premier League outings.

The Portuguese manager says he can relate to the pressure of taking over one of England’s biggest clubs amid demands for immediate results after the 35-year-old lasted eight months at Chelsea before being sacked in March 2012.

The Spurs boss has no doubts about the quality of the team and believes they will turn it around and will be fighting for the title next May.

“Too much drama? I don’t think so,” said Villas-Boas.

“For the champions of England to sit in that position– I don’t think there has been too much drama to be fair. I was involved at another club and there was much more drama surrounding my results than Manchester United’s results. What I would say is definitely they’re sitting in a very strong position because the fixtures that they have played are very, very difficult. They’ll be coming back strong and I would suppose they’ll join the rest of the teams. I would say at the end of the season they’ll be there competing for first place,” he added.

Fourth placed Spurs make the trip to sixth placed Everton on Sunday.
