Want to coach Brazil one day: Roberto Carlos

Legendary Brazilian footballer Roberto Carlos is currently boss of Turkish club Akhisar

Rio de Janeiro, April 13 (IANS): World Cup winner Roberto Carlos has revealed his desire to one day coach Brazil's national football team. The 42-year-old is currently manager of Turkish top-flight club Akhisar following an 18-month spell in-charge of local rivals Sivasspor, reports Xinhua.

"My objective is to make it all the way to the national team. I know that I still have a lot of work to do and I don't know how long it will take. Everything that I experienced with the Selecao was fantastic," Carlos said on Sunday. "I had 14 years with the national team and we won several titles such as the Copa America, Confederations Cup, World Cup. I feel affection for the national team and I want to return."

Carlos, a member of Brazil's 2002 World Cup-winning team, said he moulded his coaching style on greats such as Mario Zagallo, Carlos Alberto Parreira, Vicente del Bosque and Luiz Felipe Scolari.

"After so many years being under pressure as a player I feel prepared. I represented great clubs throughout my career. It's important to be prepared psychologically and I had that preparation at the clubs I played with," he said.
