Wanyama rejects Southampton offer
Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama has rejected Southampton‘s first contract offer. The Kenyan has attracted interest from other Premier league clubs, with Cardiff looking to swoop in for the player now. Recent reports suggested that a fee had been agreed between Southampton and Celtic for the midfielder but Wanyama has revealed that the Saints’ offer was not good enough. However, he insists that he is willing to listen to other offers.
“While the bid was okay for Celtic, the terms were not right for myself and my agent,” Wanyama said.
“I am open to what offers are made, but I am relaxed and it’s important that Celtic are happy too.”
A box-to-box midfielder, Wanyama is not only known for his strength and tackling ability but also showed his calmness on the ball, which was quite evident during his impressive Champions league campaign with the Scottish giants and was subsequently linked with a move to Manchester United. He made 31 league appearances for Celtic last year scoring six goals.
