Truely regarded as the 'Prince of Football', Pele has not only scored over 1,000 goals throughout his career, but he also won three FIFA World Cups with his country.
Growing up in extreme poverty in the Bauru municipality of Sao Paulo, Pele used to work in tea shops as a child labour to financially help his family. From the tea shops of Bauru to being included in Time magazine's ‘The 100 most influential people of the 20th century’ list – Pele's journey has been absolutely phenomenal.
Brian Grazer and Ivan Orlic who had previously produced hit films like Apollo 13 (1995), Friday Night Lights (2004) and Rush (2013) have come up with their latest venture which depicts the life and the legacy of the legendary Brazilian international.
Written and directed by Jeffrey and Michael Zimbalist, Pele: Birth of a Legend had released its official trailer earlier on the internet.
Kevin de Paula will be playing the lead role in the film and according to the end credits of the trailer, the Oscar and Grammy Award-winning Indian music composer, AR Rahman has worked on the soundtrack of the movie.
The trailer beautifully portrays Pele’s journey to stardom and the way he persevered to the ultimate glory of lifting the World Cup for his country despite the countless number of hardships that were thrown in his path. The film is rumoured to centre around the relationship between Pele and his father.
The movie is currently in its post-production stage and its release date is yet to be decided.
