Wayne Rooney declared fit for the game against Southampton

Wayne Rooney’s return will be a massive news of relief for Manchester United

In news that will come as major relief for Louis Van Gaal and Manchester United, key forward and captain Wayne Rooney has been declared fit to play the upcoming game against Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium next Tuesday. United have won 4 out of their last five matches, that included their first away win of the season over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in November. The 29-year-old scored the winner in that game in the 85th minute.

He featured in the Red Devils’s 3-0 win over Hull at home, scoring the second goal in the 42nd minute, but injured himself in the match when he slammed his leg against advertising board and was ruled out of his side’s second home game on the trot versus Stoke due to a knee injury. But Rooney declared himself fit for the game next Tuesday and following scans on Wednesday, he is expected to return to action next week.

Rooney has played 10 games for United this season, scoring 5 goals. The Red Devils will be aiming to continue their winning streak next week and thereby further strengthen their position in the top 4.
