Wenger: Angelic off field, demonic on it!

LONDON, ENGLAND – DECEMBER 15: Luis Suarez of Liverpool

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admired mercurial Liverpool striker Luis Suarez,  whom he tried to sign in the summer transfer window. The Uruguayan has been in sensational form this season netting 17 goals in only 11 games so far.

Wenger did not hide his admiration for the Liverpool hitman in a recent interview with French TV show Telefoot. Suarez was the subject of an infamous £40,000,001 bid from The Gunners in the summer; which the Gunners believed would trigger a reported £40 million release clause. This bid later was subject to widespread criticism.

Wenger said-

“I think that every defender in England hates playing against him.”

“He has a strong, provocative personality. From the information I gathered on him it appears that on a day-to-day level he is really easy to work with.

“Also that he’s respectful, he loves training, he’s an angel. He turns into a demon when he’s on the pitch.

“We all dream about having players like that.”

Suarez played a starring role in Spurs demolition by Liverpool in the weekend, which later culminated in the sacking of Spurs manager- Andre Villas Boas. Liverpool are keen to tie down the mercurial forward to a long term contract; to ward off any suitors in the following transfer windows, even though Suarez has been keen on a move to a Champions League playing team. Whatever happens, Suarez has proved that indeed he is one of the best in the business and any team would dream of having a player like him; like Wenger said.
