Former Manchester United and England defender Wes Brown has hailed playing in India for Kerala Blasters as a 'tremendous' experience and has also praised Sunil Chhetri's goalscoring record.

The former Red Devils star appeared over 350 times for United ever since he made his debut for the club's first team in 1996. Brown won the Champions League twice, once in 1999 and the second one in 2008 and also won the Premier League title as many as five times under the tutelage of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Brown was recently the guest at his former United teammate Mike Clegg's Youtube channel and he talked about the times he had when he plied his trade with Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League.

He said: "This was after Blackburn. I didn't really play at Blackburn. My knees were playing up a little bit again and again. But Rene Meulensteen phoned me up and said if I wanted to come out. They had Berba (Dimitar Berbatov) as well."

Speaking about the playing conditions and the team atmosphere, Brown added: "It was as hot as you may think. But it was an absolutely tremendous experience. There were a great bunch of lads. Me, Berba and Paul Rachubka was there as well. Paul was my roomie on away trips. We had a great time. We couldn't win the league, but we pushed as far as we could."

Brown also praised the direction in which Indian football is heading and also lauded Sunil Chhetri for what he's done for the Blues.

The 39-year-old said: "The facilities are getting better all the time. We were lucky, when we went out our training ground was one of the places where the FIFA Under 17 World Cup was held- the one that England won. It was quite a few new facilities that they built. The changing rooms were good. The pitches were very good. We were very lucky to get it."

On Chhetri, Brown told Clegg: "Sunil Chhetri's record for India is tremendous. I've met him a few times. We've had five-a-side games. He'll tell you they don't play the better teams, which is true. But his goalscoring record is really good."
