West Brom target Championship's Player of the Season
According to Sky sports, West Brom are chasing a loan deal for Udinese‘s Matej Vydra. The 21-year-old Czech Republican striker had scored 20 goals in his 27 appearances in the Championship while on loan at Watford for the whole of last season.
Reportedly, West Brom have made a bid to loan him back to England. Vydra was the player of the year at The Championships last season. Watford manager had earlier said he wanted to re-sign Vydra but he has already been linked to several other English clubs, with Albion being the first.
West Brom manager Steve Clarke has already brought in one striker this summer in Nicolas Anelka, but with Romelu Lukaku back at Chelsea following the end of his loan spell and Peter Odemwingie being a target for Al Nasr of Dubai, Vydra’s addition will be a delight to his team.
Vydra, who had an impressive last season at Vicarage Road is also keen to play in the Premier League. On being asked about his thoughts on a move to Premier League by isport.blesk.cz, he said : “It would be my dream. I would like to play in that competition.
“I have not been thinking about specific clubs because there has not been anything. After the international friendly (on 14th August) I would like to move on finally.”
He is keen on joining Premier League this transfer window as he is not well adapted and settled in Italy where he finds himself some way down the attacking pecking order.
He added: “I know it’s not ideal because the leagues are starting this week or the next weekend. I would come in as a new player without having spent pre-season preparation with the team and that would make my position more difficult at the beginning.
“If someone does sign me, hopefully they would want me to play.
“Training here has been the same as it would have been somewhere else. In the next few days it should be resolved.”
