West Ham announce Adrian capture
West Ham United announced on Wednesday that they have signed Spanish goalkeeper Adrian on a free transfer from La Liga outfit Real Betis.
The 26-year-old has signed a three-year contract and will link up with the Premier League side when his Betis contract runs out at the end of the month.
“I am extremely happy and ecstatic to have joined such a legendary and historical club in both London and in England,” he said.
“I am really looking forward to being able to kick-off my career in the best league in the world with West Ham.”
Adrian will challenge experienced Icelandic goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen for a place in manager Sam Allardyce’s first XI at Upton Park next season, when the London club will look to improve on a 10th-place finish in the English top flight.
Adrian, who came through the youth ranks at Betis, is West Ham’s second close-season signing, following the acquisition of Romania international defender Razvan Rat from Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk.
