According to the reports, West Ham and Sunderland are contemplating a bid for Tottenham Hotspur wide-man Aaron Lennon.

Lennon has struggled to improve his game in the past few seasons, reaching a career-low tally of one goal and three assists this term. As such, the incoming Tottenham manager could well move to bring an end to the diminutive winger’s 9-year stint at the North London side.

Sunderland boss, Gus Poyet, understands Lennon’s game well, having been assistant manger at Tottenham when Juande Ramos was at the helm. The former Leeds man is seen as a much-needed injection of pace for the midland club’s laboured midfield.

Football direct news’ source maintains that Spurs will look to offload Lennon in the summer transfer window if they receive any serious offers.

“Despite Aaron’s terrific service to Tottenham, I have heard reliable information that we’ll be looking to sell him. We’ve had some interest from West Ham and Sunderland, so we’ll see if it amounts to anything.”

With Aaron Lennon’s contract set to expire in 2016, Daniel Levy might push for a sale before his value depreciates significantly.

Aaron Lennon scored just one goal in 27 appearances last season.
