What’s the story?

Carlo Ancelotti might not be without a job for a long time. The Italian manager was sacked by Bayern Munich on Thursday but he has already attracted attention from several clubs.

Premier League side, West Ham United are said to be the ones who are 'extremely keen' on getting Ancelotti back in England. According to the Mirror, the Hammers are looking to replace Slaven Bilic with the former Real Madrid manager in the coming days.

In case you didn’t know...

Ancelotti has already managed in the Premier League before. The Italian was at Chelsea for two years before he was sacked by The Blues.

He won the Premier League and FA Cup in his first season at the club but a trophyless 2nd season saw him get the axe. He went on to manage Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid after that before heading to Bayern Munich.

The heart of the matter

Reports last week suggested that Ancelotti only wanted to manage Arsenal in the Premier League if West Ham make an approach before the Gunners, the Italian might end up accepting it.

Ancelotti was quoted in the Daily Mail back in 2011 praising the Hammers and also saying that he was open to managing them later in his career. Now with West Ham interested, it would be interesting to see if he takes up the job.

"I would coach West Ham - why not? The atmosphere at West Ham is amazing. It doesn't matter if you manage a top team or a smaller team. It's more important to work."

Since then a lot has changed at West Ham – they moved back to the Premier League, moved out of Upton Park and the atmosphere is no longer the same.

Should Ancelotti take charge of West Ham, it would the Premier League even more exciting. But will the Hammers owners take out their chequebook to sign the manager and the players he needs? Only time will tell.
