What if EPL stars took on WWE stars

Inspiration, Courage, Passion, Sweat and Blood. These are the few things that are common between a WWE superstar and a footballer in the Barclays Premier League. As many former players say, ‘The football in the Premier League is like playing another sport altogether’. Keeping in mind the pace and the strength exhibited by the Premier League players, it would be wise to give few of the players a fair chance to exhibit their physical skills in the WWE arena. Here is a look at few of the mouthwatering clashes which would result in a sell-out arena.

1. Pavel Pogrebnyak vs John Cena

This probably would be a repeat of the super hit Rocky IV. However, despite Pogrebnyak’s height advantage over Cena, Cena has all the strength and superior will power to pull off a repeat of Rocky. With both men equally strong with regards to the weight department, it will be an interesting clash where national pride will be at stake (Russia vs U.S.A).

2. Luis Suarez and Ashley Young vs Kane and Daniel Bryan

The dysfunctional team of Kane and Daniel Bryan, who are the current Tag Team champions, will face off against the prime divers of the EPL. Personally, I feel that Suarez and Young have the upper hand for two reasons. Firstly, being a dysfunctional team, Bryan and Kane are bound to argue during the encounter and secondly, Suarez and Young could use their diving prowess to win the match, possibly unfairly.

3. Ryan Shawcross, Wayne Rooney, Marouane Fellaini  and Yaya Toure

This fatal four way match could be the main event as there is a heavy load of carnage expected. This is what would happen if we put together four of the possibly strongest players in the EPL, in the ring. However, Ryan Shawcross seems to be the hot favourite, considering Stoke City’s defensive form this season. Marouane Fellaini poses a serious threat with his strength and is second in line after Shawcross. It seems to be a seemingly fair encounter and could go one for a long time.

4. David de Gea vs Rey Mysterio

Many would argue that Sin Cara would be the perfect opponent for the frail Manchester United stopper, but after his performance against Real Madrid in which he showcased his martial arts prowess by keeping out phenomenal strikes, Mysterio seems to be a fair opponent for him. De Gea goes in as the favourite after his Champions League performance.

5. Vince McMahon vs Sir Alex Ferguson (with Rio Ferdinand)

Known for having a short fuse and being grumpy, this match seems to take the cake. Sir Alex has been involved with many managers over the years with his infamous mind games, the David Beckham boot incident, the much publicised kettle incident, and with Rio Ferdinand by his side, Fergie has nothing to fear. However, the Chairman of the WWE starts as the favourite as he has been involved in a similar match-up before with Donald Trump.
