Revealed: Why Zlatan Ibrahimovic is officially still not a Manchester United player

We admit, we've never seen him bored like this.

Manchester United's pursuit of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is stretching out to be one of the summer's top transfer sagas. The 34-year-old has been linked with Jose Mourinho's team for a long time already and has admitted that a move to the Premier League is a possible but refuses to single out the Manchester club out.

It is possibly one of football's worst kept secrets but Zlatan Ibrahimovic signing for the Red Devils will only go ahead after June 30th. The Swede and his agent – Mino Raiola – are set for a huge loyalty bonus by Paris Saint-Germain if the striker sees out his contract with the Parisian club. Which means, he can't sign any deal with any club in the world without losing out his bonus on.

Jose Mourinho has also refused to comment on the signing of Zlatan but he is reportedly offered a two-year contract with an option of a third and could be paid close to £250,000-a-week at Old Trafford. There are also whispers about Bayern Munich and Carlo Ancelotti – Zlatan's former manager when the two of them were at AC Milan – wanting to sign him this summer.

The big Swede had a spectacular season last time around even setting a personal record – scoring more goals in one season than the number of candles on his cake. Zlatan scored a whopping 50 goals in 51 appearances for the Parisian club last season and also contributed 19 assists for his teammates to tuck away – for anyone, and not just a 34-year-old, that is a feat.

Manchester United are on the lookout for a striker this summer being linked with the likes of Alvaro Morata, Mauro Icardi, Breel Embolo, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Having sold a number of their strikers in the past few seasons, Wayne Rooney is the only available senior striker in the squad.
