I will not show respect for the Barcelona trio of MSN: Mehdi Benatia
Bayern Munich defender Medhi Benatia says there won’t be any room for respect when he takes on the field against Barcelona’s attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar Jr. as he sets his journey for Berlin. A forward line that has scored for over 100 goals in all the competitions of the current season, the trio of MSN (Messi, Suarez and Neymar) will go into Wednesday’s Champions League 1st leg semi-final clash with view to increase their tally of goals.
There is also a feeling of revenge prevailing among the Catalan players – courtesy of a 7-0 aggregate loss against the German giants back in 2013. However, the Moroccan international has made it clear that he will not be discouraged by the attacking power that Barcelona possesses ahead of the clash at Camp Nou.
"I have met Suarez before with Udinese in the Europa League when he still played for Liverpool. I have never faced Messi and Neymar before, but there's a first time for everything," Benatia told Kicker.
"On a personal level, I respect them. But I will not show them any respect during the 90 minutes on the pitch,” said Benatia. “We will do everything within our power to make it to the final of the Champions League,” added the Moroccan international.
"Wednesday's first leg will be a great game. We are capable of getting a good result at Camp Nou and should believe in ourselves."
