Willian vows to keep club rivalry aside to help Firmino

Firimino and Willian will be on rival sides when the Premier League starts

Chelsea midfielder Willian is delighted to hear about Roberto Firmino’s transfer to Liverpool, and has vowed to keep the rivalry between Chelsea and Liverpool aside to help the Brazilian adjust to his new surroundings in England.

Firmino moved from Hoffenheim to Liverpool in a deal that cost the club about £29m, making him the second most expensive Liverpool signing in their history, and overtaking last year’s record signing Adam Lallana, who cost the club £25m.

While speaking to the reporters, Willian had only good things to say about his Brazilian colleague and future opponent. He also gave his opinion on the move.

“He's a great player. He knows how to score. He's strong. Obviously, British football is played differently. It's very quick and aggressive and it is tough to adapt there, but he has everything in order to make that change. As far as I'm concerned - and other players like Philippe Coutinho, who will also play with him - we will try to help him with his transition to Liverpool."

Willian and Firmino are both expected to start when Brazil take on Paraguay in their Copa America quarterfinal match, as the Selecao look to win the title in the absence of Neymar.

This game is likely to be viewed with great interest by the Liverpool supporters, who want to see a glimpse of their star signing.
