Wimbledon FC spoof Swansea ball boy incident
In a rather humorous aftermath of the controversial and hotly-debated issue of Eden Hazard kicking Swansea ball boy Charlie Morgan in the Swansea-Chelsea game which saw Swansea go to the finals of the Capital One Cup, and has the footballing community divided, Wimbledon FC’s official twitter account has posted a picture of a ball boy apparently ‘training’ to not give the ball to the opposition.
The tweet, from the handle @AFCWimbledon, read:
We have had the ballboys in early for training today ahead of tonight’s televised match twitter.com/AFCWimbledon/s…
— AFC Wimbledon (@AFCWimbledon) January 24, 2013
Morgan, who had jokingly tweeted that he would waste time to help Swansea’s cause, has 80,000 new followers after the incident took place.
Wimbledon’s official account has also gained quite a few followers after they posted the humorous picture, gaining the highest number of followers for a League side, where they are competing, in a single week.
This just goes to the show, the bigger the controversy, the higher the number of followers!
Update: The tweet has now been removed by Wimbledon’s official twitter account.
